 Summary

Maintains kitchen work area, restaurant equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Washes and sorts plates, cups, cutlery, cooking equipment, worktables, walks, sinks with disinfectant, refrigerators, speed racks, etc.
  • Keeps all work areas, cool room, storeroom and rear areas clean, swept, hosed and tidy.
  • Polishes and wipes out alto shames.
  • Removes and cleans flow jets in dishwasher.
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
  • Ensures proper sorting and storage of food.
  • Organizes the disposal of rubbish, waste and recyclable materials.
  • Controls the use of chemicals in the kitchen.
  • Follows the restaurants sanitation and hygienic food handling practices, and regular cleaning and waste disposal practices.
  • Works safely and support others to work safely.
  • Maintains kitchen equipment and plant in good condition.
  • Supports good communication among floor staff and kitchen crew. Communicate all concerns to the Sous Chef.
  • Ensures closing procedures are completed and signed off on by Sous Chef.
  • Provides a superior experience to all Guests by giving warm hospitality and executing ways to exceed expectations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Due to seasonal needs within the Hospitality Industry it may be necessary to adjust schedules to meet the demands of our business.

Safety Policies and Procedures 

The Team Member in this position is responsible for following Willow Valley’s safety policies and procedures, promoting safety, and identifying areas for improvement.  The Team Member must be knowledgeable about and follow Willow Valley’s Safety Manual.  The Team Member will be reviewed annually on workplace safety.

This position has very little contact with Guests and Team Members. If contact is required, simple courtesy is expected. Contact with other Team Members is confined to the work group.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The Team Member  frequently is required to walk and talk or hear. The Team Member is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Team Member must regularly lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
